Eyelash Treatments:
Will eyelash extensions make my natural lashes fall out?
The short answer is no. If the lashes are applied safely with the correct weights and separation of natural lashes, your natural lashes will only fall naturally out during their lash cycle which is 6-8 weeks.
What do I need to do to prepare for my lash appointment?
Please arrive to your appointment completely makeup free. This means ALL eye makeup and any foundation, powder or concealer which might be around your eyes. Even if you think you have cleaned your makeup off, there is likely to be a residue on your lashes which will make it very difficult for the glue. The more time we spend cleaning your lashes, the less time we get to spend lashing!
Please avoid caffeine prior to your appointment! You will need to stay very still for your appointment. This include moving your feet! Any movement of your body WILL move your head which makes it impossible to apply your extensions.
Why should I attend a consultation 24 to 48 hours prior to my application?
A lash consultation is ideal to map the perfect style as well as patch test in the case that you would potentially have an allergic reaction to any of the products used.
What is involved in the aftercare of extensions?
It is strongly recommended that you purchase a specific eyelash extension cleanser and brush. These can be purchased online and in the salon at the time of your appointment. It is imperative that you keep your eyelash extensions clean by washing them daily with an approved cleanser. Ensuring their cleanliness ensures their longevity and the health of your eye. Over the course of the day, your eyelashes collect a myriad of dust, skin, oil, makeup etc which lash mites feed off. Without regular cleaning, all of the above will build up causing the extensions to shed prematurely and potentially damage your natural lashes as well as causing discomfort.
It is also recommended that you try to sleep on your back. This avoids crushing the extensions. Do not pick, pull or rub your eyes.
Do not avoid water! There is a common misconception that water will weaken the bonds of the glue. Quite the opposite is true. The glue cures with the moisture in the air so if anything, water will be beneficial to the glue bonding. You must not leave them dry for 24-48 hours. Some lash techs recommend this however, imagine 24-48 hours of dead skin, oil, makeup and dust stuck in your eyelashes…
Other things to avoid are, excessive heat, oil based makeup and skincare, lighting cigarettes too close to your face! Yes, you WILL melt your eyelashes!!!
What is involved in the prep and aftercare for lash lifts?
Please arrive with clean, makeup free skin and eyelashes. Ensure that you do not have any eyelash extensions attached.
Aftercare is as simple as not touching, pulling or pulling your eyelashes. Do not sleep on your face and avoid oil based makeup or applying mascara the day of.
Spray Tans:
How do I prepare for a tan?
Ensure that any hair removal is completed 24 hours prior. Ensure that you have showered and exfoliated prior to your application, focusing on the dryer areas of your body such as elbows, ankles and knees. Do not wear any makeup, deodorant or moisturiser. Come to your appointment in loose clothing.
What aftercare is involved in a spray tan?
Your tan will take between 1 and 6 hours for development, depending on your desired colour as well as your chosen tan. I stock Bondi Sands which is an express 2-6 hour tan as well as St Tropez, SprayAus and MineTan which are express 1+ hour tans.
DO:
Apply tan extender to get the most out of your tan. Bellabronze Tan Extender can be purchased from LA.
Keep your skin hydrated in the days after your tan.
Use water to rinse the tan off for your first shower after applying the tan. Wait until the water runs clear off your body, don’t use soap or gels and definitely do not scrub. Ensure that the water is not too hot when rinsing off the excess tan.
DON’T
Shave or wax after getting a tan as this will remove your new tan.
Avoid activities which will cause sweating for 12 hours after the tan is applied.
Avoid retinols, face masks, strips, microdermabrasion or any products containing benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, AHAs or BHAs on your skin as this can disrupt the tan and cause it to fade.
Avoid any water before the development time has passed as this will wash the tan off. This applies for the rain, crying etc. It will cause the tan to run and will develop streaky.
Whilst your tan is developing, you will need to refrain from participating in any activities which may induce sweating, getting the tan wet or rubbing it off as this may affect the development.
Avoid pools, spas, hot showers, baths, massage oil or body oils and scrubbing your skin as this will remove the tan or cause it to turn patchy.
